Saturday Reading a World Away

A rare Saturday post due to the enforced lethargy from the Pacific storm (almost 5 inches this weekend.)

Today's Guardian contains some interesting articles worth a look. The first of a three-part article examines the history of British aversion to veggies and fruits, "The scars remain for a lifetime: a Brit, on average, eats less fruit and veg than almost any other European." The second is an excerpt from Susan Sontag's introduction to a new edition of Leonid Tsypkin's Summer in Baden-Baden, to be released in March in the UK.

And much closer to home, in keeping with the bad food theme, the LA Times has a prominent Column One article on jailhouse food.
